The delightful conservation village of Cawdor is situated just 12 miles from Inverness and is close to Nairn. It is all that could be expected of a peaceful, highland community. A few miles inland, it enjoys the benefits of a micro-climate which is often mentioned on national weather forecasts. Just think, how often have you heard about the particular weather of the Moray Firth, often in relation to the highest temperatures on the UK mainland?!

Our church building is sturdy, compact, comfortable, warm and welcoming . It epitomises the demeanour of our congregation; a congregation which is drawn not only from Cawdor Village itelf but also from many miles of surrounding countryside. There are currently around 170 members on the role at Cawdor of which we normally see 80 – 100 each Sunday. The congregation is cosmopolitan whilst still including families who have worshiped at Cawdor for generations. Ages range from the young to the not so young and all worship comfortably together.

Weekly services are held each Sunday morning at 1015hrs. One of the greatest pleasures of worship at Cawdor is the warm, friendly ambience which is ever present. It is notable that the Visitors' Book is regularly signed and contains names and addresses from all parts of the world. Our service is traditional though the Minister keeps us all on our toes by introducing variety as she sees fit! After every Sunday morning service our visitors and the regular congregation stroll across together for tea or coffee in the Mound, our Church Hall, in what can only be described as a party like atmosphere! Amidst happy chatter, visitors get to know the locals and the locals catch up on each other's news. Special services are held from time to time. The Sacrament of the Lords Supper is celebrated twice a year in April and November. Special services to celebrate Christmas, Easter and Harvest Festival are held and at some of these services we join together with the congregation of our neighbouring parish of Croy &Dalcross, with whom we are linked. An open air service is held at least once each year in the ruins of the former parish church of Cawdor, at Barevan, which is just a few miles from the village centre.

We have a very active Sunday School. The children normally join the congregation at the start of the service and retire to the Mound with their teachers after the Minister's address to the children. Of course, this can vary and the children often join the congegation for special services, such as baptisms. The Sunday School teaching follows Church of Scotland guidelines and special events are marked with innovative ideas generated by the Minister or the Sunday School Leader.
